Homemade Beef Burgers

Version 1 – 380kcal

Serves 6

Calories: 382, Protein: 28.1g, Carbs: 41.5g, Fats: 9.6g, Fibre: 6.7g

Ingredients:

  • 1 brown onion, diced

  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped

  • 500g extra lean beef mince

  • 1 egg

  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs (or quinoa flakes for GF)

  • 2 tsp dried Italian herbs

  • Pinch of salt

  • Pinch of pepper

  • 1 tsp olive oil

  • 6 wholegrain rolls (or gluten free rolls)

  • 6 slices of beetroot

  • 1 tomato, sliced

  • 30g cheese, sliced (or dairy free cheese)

  • 6 tsp tomato sauce

  • 2 cups lettuce, shredded

  • 1 carrot, grated

Method:

  1. Combine the onion, garlic, mince, egg, breadcrumbs, herbs, salt and pepper in a bowl until well combined. From the mixture into 4 patties and flatten slightly

  2. Heat a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the olive oil. Once hot add the burgers and cook for 5 minutes on each side.

  3. Assemble the burgers by cutting the roll in half and layering the cheese, burger, beetroot, tomato, carrot, lettuce and tomato sauce in side
