HAS THERE BEEN A DEFINING MOMENT IN YOUR ATHLETICS CAREER?
A career defining moment was my first Heptathlon season in 2017 / 18 when I achieved 23 Personal Bests in one season. I applied myself to hard work and had a no excuse attitude that payed dividends. I thought out of the box for training and learnt I was capable of a great deal with the right mindset and training program. This experience got me addicted to the process of self improvement. Personal bests are an amazing feeling.
WHAT HAS BEEN A CHALLENGING MOMENT?
Finding a balance between athletic ambition and life. Sport can become an all consuming bubble of nothing. At the end of the day success is actually measured by the impact you have on people along the way. Not medals or performance. I have been grateful to learn my value is bigger than my athletic performance and thus I truly just enjoy competing and see it as a privilege to do what I do.
WHAT ROLE HAS NUTRITION PLAYED IN YOUR SUCCESS?
Nutrition has been important for fuelling obviously. But the biggest factor has been learning to consume the right types of fuel. This is a very individual process. I have done a lot of experimentation and like that there is no one size fits all. The gut is a rather remarkable aspect of our being and when optimised is a game changer for athletic performance.
